Stainless thermal carafes are typically amazingly well built units. Unbreakable steel liner and body provide maximum durability. Also the twist and pour spout for no drip pouring in most models. Typical stainless steel carafes can keep beverages hot for 12 hours and cold for 24 hours. As with all insulated beverage containers, it is highly recommend to preheat these units by filling them with hot or cold water, and leaving them sit for a minute or so before storing your beverage. This will greatly increase the amount of time your beverage will hold its temperature. A unit with a vacuum insulation virtually eliminates temperature change by creating an airless vacuum space between two unbreakable stainless steel walls. This results in an insulation layer that performs better than almost all other insulation methods, excluding glass lined containers, which are for the most part, not suited for more rugged environments. Vacuum insulated stainless carafes outperform all other methods of temperature control in busy coffee environments.
Stainless thermal carafes are also excellent for keeping dairy products chilled, including: coffee cream, half and half, milk, etc. These units keep cold and fresh for long periods of time when refrigeration is not convenient, as in most cafe environments. It is good to check if your stainless steel vacuume thermal carafe has been tested and approved by the National Sanitation Foundation Testing Laboratory – NSF, which ensures sanitiation for use in the food service industries.
